God’s work is everywhere. He has not stopped working since creation. His present work is the building up of His Ekklesia (KJV called it church). It is the vision of God’s eternal purpose which brought Jesus into this world. It is the HOUSE God Himself will dwell. This is a mystery and it is, though right here on earth, but it is an Heavenly phenomenon. It is Christ’s Legislative Assembly here on Earth. All our works and ministries are towards her edification, her upbuilding and for her establishment. Any work that is on its own is basically fruitless and useless to God.
Matthew 16:18-19 KJV
“And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my ‘Ekklesia’; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Acts 13:1-3 KJV
“Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.”
The Matthew 16 scriptures above is very fundamental in understanding both the Ekklesia – which is ‘the Body of Christ in a given locality’ and the basic diverse ministerial expression of all believers as illustrated in Acts 13 establishing the fact that God indeed called men and specially anointed them in whatever number unto certain works or ministries they must fulfilled.
Therefore, it is very important for us to demarcate the great difference between the works we are individually given to do and Christ Ekklesia which He came to build. Here are few:-
- Works that are going on in any given locality and under the government of this world may and can be registered with the government; but the Ekklesia of Jesus, when it is built may not be registered because it cannot be controlled by the government of this world.
- Authority is the exclusive right of Ekklesia while the work is subject to her. Every work in a given locality, as said above, should recognize the Ekklesia and submit to her authority. Remember, Mount Zion is “the joy of the whole earth…” Therefore, it is a delight of any people, kingdom, and nation. God Himself will rule the earth (her locality) through her. The King sits within her palaces and govern the locality of her jurisdiction. It is written concerning her: “Whatever you bind on earths shall be bound in Heaven, and whatever you lose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven.”
- It, being a government by itself govern its environments and cause the authority of Heaven to bare upon the earth. Instead, the government of this world is subject to it because the lives therein are shining lights that reveals the darkness wherever it is hidding. And the government of this world is darkness and presently being operated by men of darkness, therefore, they themselves cannot comprehend the Ekklesia which is the Body of Christ. The Ekklesia does not beg for submission but whatever is around it simply submit to her. This is the Ekklesia in its glorious state.
NOTE: But a backsliding and a falling Ekklesia is suspected by the government of this world and therefore subject her activities to the scrutiny of its agencies. But against the true Ekklesia of Jesus Christ, there is no law.
Bearing all these differences in mind therefore, the reader should put on his or her own magnifying glass and check whether the Ekklesia we so described existed anywhere on the globe. And wherever it existed, the writer would like to know, because he would like to make a pilgrimage unto such a place wherever under Heaven. But the writer is aware that works exists all over the world and many more may and shall still arise. Several works there are which impersonated Christ’s Ekklesia, but by testimony and by life, they are not.
SOLUTION: Matthew 9:37-38 (KJV) 37 Then saith he unto his disciples, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”
We implore every reader to please engage in PRAYING for the birth of true Ekklesia in your own locality. Even though we know that “with men this is impossible, but not with God; for with God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!” Luke 1:37.
Therefore, everyone of us who has impersonated the Ekklesia should simply and humbly repent. Let us fall back to our level and name our works after whatever name we bear or desire to call it. Having places of worship which we called ‘church’ is not wrong. Every ministry needs a place to gather and where they reach out to their subscribers. But let us know in our mind that it is NOT His Ekklesia which He died for and which He promised to build. The truth is we are NOT HIS EKKLESIA as yet. We are all labourers at the quarry sites. Let us bend down to labour more harder over lives of men. We need more and more APPROVED MEN among the saints who can ‘host’ CHRIST’S EKKLESIA in their different homes but shall not possess nor own it as the pattern was in the New Testament. Trusted men and families in whose houses the Ekklesia of Jesus can be hosted. This is a different ball game altogether and I’m sure it does sound very strange to majority of us who have confessed Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour. It is something new that we shall need to humble ourselves and learn in these last days. This will be our REVIVAL. Our resetting to ONE will bring down from Heaven once again.
NOTE TO THE WORKERS
Every worker, no matter his experience or influence MUST respect, recognize and discern CHRIST’S Ekklesia i.e. The BODY of CHRIST, in any given locality. He must not overshadow or overbear upon it. He must see it as superior and supersedes his work. No matter his differences as against other workers, he must NEVER break the BODY or segregate against it. Ekklesia MUST remain ONE and INDIVISIBLE in any given locality irrespective of different houses they are gathering. Every minister must bury his differences when the Ekklesia is in session. In fact, for the sake of fellowship in the Ekklesia, he must settle quickly with his adversary so that he may have something to offer at the Ekklesia. He may offer on his own personal altar which is his own ministry or work undisputedly, but when it comes to the EKKLESIA in session, he will become handicapped because he will be ashamed to stand and to speak or edify the Ekklesia when his adversary is in sight. Except he wants to report his error and confess it or he want to mention what his adversary has done to him so the Ekklesia can settle it for them. Or else, if the differences is not properly managed, it may limit his opportunity to stand up and edify the Body when it is in session. How beautiful indeed the Ekklesia will be! Oh, that we all may desire it and PRAY it to come down quickly from Heaven to our locality once again as it came in the days of the Apostles… (feel free to drop your comments…)
