CULM DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

Among other equally biblical truths, we believe in:

A. The Holy Bible, the Word of God; in its divine, verbal, plenary inspiration, its inerrancy, and infallibility in the original manuscripts; and its supreme and final authority in faith and life (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21).

B. One God eternally existing in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 3:14).

 C. The Lord Jesus Christ:

  • His essential, absolute, and eternal deity (Philippians 2:6; John 1:4, 14; Hebrews 1:8).
  • His true and sinless humanity (1 Peter 2:22; 1 John 3:5).
  • His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:20).
  • His substitutionary, propitiatory death (Matthew 20:28; Mark 1:45; 1 Timothy 2:6).
  • His bodily resurrection (John 20:19-20).
  • His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19; Luke 24:51).
  • His personal, visible, and bodily coming again with power and great glory (Titus 2:13; John 14:2-3; Revelation 19:11-16).
  • His victory over sin, self and Satan that manifests in everyone who have truly and genuinely encountered His Cross (John 8:11. Rom. 8:1-2, 37).

D. The Holy Spirit, who shows the redeeming purpose of God to the world by convicting the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment (John 16:7-11), and by regenerating (Titus 3:5), uniting to Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13), indwelling (Ephesians 1:13, 5:18), sanctifying (Galatians 5:16; 1 Corinthians 6:11), illuminating (John 16:13), and empowering for service (1 Corinthians 12:4-11), all who place complete faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Galatians 5:5).

E. The total depravity of man because of the Fall (Genesis 3:10-24; Romans 6:23).

F. Salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ apart from works (Ephesians 2:8).

G. The everlasting bliss of the saved and the eternal suffering of the lost (Daniel 12:2; Luke 16:24-26; John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:14-15).

 H. The real spiritual unity in Christ of all redeemed by His precious Blood (1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:4-6, 4:11-15, 5:25-26).

I. The necessity of maintaining, according to the Word of God, the purity of the Body in doctrine and life (1Corinthians 6:19-20; 1 Thessalonians 4:3).

DOCTRINAL DIFFERENCES STATEMENT
Christian Unity Life Movement seeks to present Jesus Christ, our Lord, to men, women, and children through the meeting of their life needs and sharing both the Gospel of grace that sets free from sin, and the Gospel of Peace between divided Believers.

In order to carry out the task, a firm foundation on which to stand is needed.

Within the Body of Christ, there are core, or primary, doctrines. These are expressed in our Doctrinal Statement. Agreement upon these core doctrines is necessary for fellowship and cooperation with fellow ministers and likeminded ministries and groups genuinely seeking oneness.

There are, however, other doctrines upon which there are variations or differing positions. In keeping with the interdenominational status of CULM, careful consideration and strong emphasis must be given to the maintenance and demonstration of the “unity of the Body of Christ” in our fellowship and in our various ministries.

To accomplish this, secondary truths, or denominational differences in doctrinal emphasis, must not be stressed. These doctrinal differences have a tendency to cause division.

Such controversial subjects as extreme forms of Arminianism, Calvinism, dispensationalism, the Pentecostal or charismatic experience, signs and wonders, or exclusive use of a particular translation of Scripture are examples of things that tend to divide rather than unite. Individuals accepted into ministry with CULM must be willing to subjugate any such doctrinal views which might cause controversy or division.

The following quotation expresses CULM’s conviction in regard to various doctrinal positions:

In essentials…unity;

In non-essentials…graciousness;
In doubtful things…liberty;

In all things…LOVE.

OUR STAND ON DISCIPLESHIP

CULM strongly believes in Discipleship without which oneness is unattainable yet does not believe in exclusive or heavy shepherding. We believe in and practice the liberty of Believers when they have been truly discipled to know the Lord, hear His voice, follow and obey Him no matter the implications to their fleshly life. We do not encourage careless or frivolity.

About us

CULM is an interdenominational, Christ-centered organization, whose
purpose is to exercise and encourage EVANGELISM, DISCIPLESHIP, and SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT (i.e., growth & maturing) of Believers towards the fulfillment of the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20) as related to communities where Believers are found. And since this goal cannot be achieved by any individual or congregational anointing, but a collective responsibility of every genuine Believer in a given locality, hence our major emphasis on His last prayer in John Chapter 17. A prayer He passionately mentioned to God three times within the chapter: “…THAT THEY MAY BE ONE”. We strongly believe that achieving the stated objectives above must not tamper with the ONENESS of Chris’s Body in any given locality.
